Earl has 25 years of pastoral experience and received his Ph.D. degree from Pensacola Christian College. During his 20 year pastoral tenure in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada Earl was involved as a chaplain at the Muskoka Centre, was administrator and instructor for the London Baptist Bible College Satellite Campus, and became the founding president of A Word in Season Ministries, a devotional newspaper column and radio ministry.

In January 2003, Earl joined the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism as an international professor of theological education. He and his wife Kathi were appointed to the West African field in July 2003.

Kathi has an Ontario Teachers Certificate and 23 years of teaching experience.  Throughout their marriage, Kathi has been closely involved in the ministry at the churches Earl has pastored.  She has ministered to young children in Sunday School and AWANA and has also been involved with training teachers.  For ten summers Kathi was a counselor at the Ontario Scholarship Camp of AWANA.  For the past 15 years Kathi has taught part-time in local Christian schools, thoroughly enjoying her Kindergarten students. She presently teaches at Muskoka Christian School.  Her greatest joy is her family and she loves to spend as much time with them as possible.  Their daughter Michele and her husband Minne have two sons, Drew and Caleb; daughter Teresa and her husband Adam have a son, Malakai, and are expecting another in the fall of 2006; son, David, is studying at Pensacola Christian College.

In 2007 Earl and Kathi were appointed as the Theological Education Representatives for ABWE Canada. Although this expands their ministry across Canada by representing the ABWE's world theological educational focus, they are still involved heavily in curriculum development and teaching throughout the ABWE mission world.
